Sales Callback Secrets: Getting The Most From Your Leads And Website Traffic

19 February

To help improve your businesses sales and performance, we’ve embarked upon a data gathering and analysis mission over the last year. We analysed more than 95,000 sales calls between consumers and sales teams from a number and variety of different businesses during a 12-month period.

In doing this, we found out some pretty surprising facts as well as confirming the importance of many best practice sales behaviours.

What did we discover?

ResponseiQ is built around making sure customers are speaking to salespeople as soon as possible. The research shows just how much of an impact this can have on the success of a sales call.

Converting enquiries to sales calls = Lead response times count

We’ve always said this, in fact, it’s what the premise of ResponseiQ is built on. That said, it’s always nice to see your hard work backed up by data.

Our research shows that every second counts when it comes to calling back a lead. We found that there’s a 42% increase in the possibility of a callback request turning into a real sales call (a real sales call being defined as more than 2 minutes in duration) if a salesperson returns the callback request in under two minutes, compared with waiting for as little as 2-5 minutes. That’s a pretty significant difference in a short period of time!

Shorter response times = longer sales calls

Calls last a significant 128% longer the sooner you connect with a customer after they request a callback. Calls last a consistently shorter amount of time the longer it takes you to callback a customer.

All the data highlights how important it is to connect with your customer as soon as possible after their callback request.

The Irish really are friendlier!

The Irish spoke to salespeople on the phone for longer than any other nationality. Irish customers spent, on average, 6 minutes 18 seconds on the phone to sales teams.

The UK as a whole (including Northern Ireland), spent 5 minutes, 7 seconds on sales calls.

India came in as the least patient (or most efficient) at taking sales calls, with calls lasting, on average, just 1 minute 53 seconds.

Businesses in the UK are missing out on serious sales every year because of missed opportunities with customers. It’s common knowledge that customers don’t like cold sales calls, which is why our widget works so well at converting internet traffic to sales calls – the customers who come through the widget want to be contacted. This makes the salesperson’s job a lot easier because they can concentrate on selling their product/service rather than trying to win the customer’s initial interest.
